Comfort food smell to me is Dad's Navy Bean soup (made with hocks or a meaty
ham bone). A close second would be Mom's Chicken N' Biscuits (creamed
chicken ladeled over biscuits). Neither of which I'm having today. (sigh)
I had planned to do stewed lamb shanks with leeks but the lamb was rancid.
I'd had to ask the butcher if they had any and he brought me out two, vacuum
packed. I stuck them in the freezer a month ago. Thawed them on Friday;
opened the package last night and EWWWWW. SOUR, rancid, nasty! And too
late to take them back. So, today I'll have tattie-leek soup rather than
lamb & leek stew. That's okay, I like potato leek soup
