Back in 1963 Gourmet published "Gourmet's Menu Cookbook" that contained a
recipe for a wonderful chocolate cheesecake that was to be decorated with
candied violets. Failing a source to buy them, I undertook to make my own.
The results were wonderful; the process tedious. Since then, when I've made
the cheesecake, I've managed to buy the candied violets.
