Check the ingredients on the side of the bottle. There are some maple
flavoured syrups sold here. They have an interesting flavour, but there is
a world of difference between that and real syrup.
FWIW, around here the price of maple syrup depends a lot on the size of
the container. The smaller the container, the more it costs per unit
volume, and not just a little. I have seen miniature bottles selling for
$5, and for three times that price I can buy a whole litre of the stuff.
