The difference between some brands is reliability and length of service.
You can get a $300 DW that will clean the dishes well, but needs repairs in
a few years and replacement in a few more. Most of the higher priced have
longer wearing arts, thicker materials, better bearings, etc. There will
always be an exception, but I just avoid the low end stuff. .

Now if you are talking the $5000 range over the $1000 model, yes, very few
people actually utilize the full potential. If you wear a Timex and drive an
Escort, you can still get to work on time, as well as wear a Rolex and drive
a Mercedes and be late. You have to know how to use the tools.
