In a word no.

I had the same unit, cooking without water will speed the process. I should
mention that I do use the water at the point the food is cooked. I use the water
to slow or stop the cooking and to prevent the food from drying out. Lets say
the ribs are done but dinner is 2 hours away. I drop the thermostat and add
some water to the pan.
