Sparking lump is purely related to it's humidity. After a lot of rain my
lump sparks pretty hard, especially during start up in the chimney. During
the summer and no rains there's hardly a spark to be seen. I suspect Maine
doesn't get too many months without any rain, so you're gonna see sparks all
year, except maybe snow season if the air is dry.
