blender accident but no injuries
Recently, I have been making potato soup. It has been a long time since
I have had potatoes in the house. I usually have rice or pasta. It has
been a treat.
Yesterday the soup was made uneventfully until it came time to puree the
soup. I placed soup in my blender.
Placed the lid on. Turned on the blender. All went well. I decided to
add some salt and thought this was a good time to do it. I went to
remove the little cover in the lid and oops - the lid being soft
plastic/rubber as opposed to the older blenders that had hard rubber
lids and hard little covers for adding ingredients - went into the
blender. I quickly hit the stop button to stop the liquefy action but
not before, the walls, my shoes half way across the room, the fridge,
cupboards, most everything in the kitchen including the ceiling had
potato soup spots. But the point of my story is not the accident per
se, it is that potato soup on the ceiling and in my shoes and everywhere
else looks like the end of a porno movie. From now on it is plastic
wrap for my blender. I am going to play it safe.
The recipe is translated from a German web site.
A German Potato Soup
X numbers of potatoes peeled to half fill a pot of choice
chopped onion white/yellow
green onion greens chopped (optional garnish)
olive oil
garlic (optional)
water to cover potatoes in pot.
salt, pepper
While peeling potatoes, fry some white/yellow chopped onions in a pot.
Add chopped peeled potatoes with water to cover and boil 15 minutes.
I sometimes add a bit of chopped Black Forest Ham to the boiling water.
Puree. Season to taste. It is very nice. Very simple.
I don't add the green onions as I don't keep them in the house usually.
I peel the potatoes leaving 2/8 thickness of peels. These thicker
than normal peelings chopped fine and fried are wonderful for breakfast
or anytime. No waste.
