I'll take you on any day with a broken bottle against your airline
fork :-)
A lot of the banned items are (were) pretty silly IMO. My 70-odd
year old mother in law had a nail file confiscated.
Call me a cynic, but I suspect bottles were always allowed because the
ecomonics of air flight would not work if travellers could not buy
their "duty free".
