Believe it or not, "lactose intolerant" means that you can't tolerate
lactose.

Yoghurt and other dairy products have been cultured. The little buggies
in the culture already "ate" the lactose, so there isn't any in the
finished product.


And it's correct that there was no lactose intolerance decades ago, when
I was young. I knew that when I drank a big glass of milk with a meal
that I would get cramps and diarhea, but I didn't know why. Obviously,
I stopped drinking milk. I don't have a problem with yoghurt, although
I don't eat much of it. Cheese is no problem. I put a little milk in
my coffee in the morning, and that seems to work OK.

My middle child had problems with cow's milk as a baby. He didn't get
any, but my wife drank it, and he was breast fed. He was a really
cranky baby, and the pediatrician finally suggested that my wife stop
drinking cow's milk. He was cured instantly.
