ISO Rice candy from Macau - Alua? Aluwa?
Hi
I'm looking for an elusive recipe for something called Alua or Aluwa.
(I'm not certain of the proper spelling.)
It's a traditional Christmas candy/dessert of Macanese or perhaps
Portuguese origin. Pretty sure it's sugar and rice flour and coconut
milk and ???
Cooked slowly and stirred constantly "all day" and then molded into
blocks or bars that are later sliced. The result is a sort of light
brown, translucent fudge with an almost "gummy" texture. (Maybe
there's gelatin in the recipe?)
I realize there are many different types of rice flour candy with
similar ingredients. But this is specifically from Macau, specifically
a Christmas recipe.
Thank you, to anyone who might be able to help me.
