I am not a believer in happy thoughts curing disease, and the stress
you are under right now must be enormous, but try to stay as calm as
possible. Ask your doc for something like Xanax...call the service
over the weekend and get a prescription.

Even though the reality of the situation will create anxiety, there is
no reason why you should feel so very uneasy with it. You will have a
long recovery period after the surgery, which may be only one of the
treatments necessary to cure you. You need a clear head to make
important decisions and stress can hinder it.

Do you have a close friend or family member who can be advocate for
you right now? Hopefully you have. If so, allow this person to take on
all the burdens except the unavoidable physical ones. Try to focus on
the most important task at hand - getting you through this, one day at
a time. If you cannot handle it on a day-to-day basis, by golly, then
concern yourself with getting though it all an hour at a time.

Think of the "best of you," the wonderful things you have
accomplished, seen, and shared and concentrate on the joys and
pleasures as much as you can. You can cry until you can't catch your
breath, that will happen and is nothing to be ashamed of, but if you
are so uncomfortable that you cannot relax or sleep, please call your
doctor and get something. S/he will understand and get you through the
next days.

All the best,
