Default CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE BROWNIES

I am looking for a cream cheese brownie with a rich texture. Most
recipes I find seem to bury the cream cheese in the mix, making it
invisible. My friend's Mom made the best batch of cream cheese
brownies I've ever tasted, but I've not been able to duplicate it. This
recipe is from cooks.com:

CHOCOLATE CREAM CHEESE BROWNIES

CHOCOLATE BATTER:

4 oz. semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
3 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

CREAM CHEESE BATTER:

1 (3 oz.) cream cheese, softened
2 tbsp. butter, softened
1/4 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. flour
1 1/2 tsp. orange peel, grated
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
CHOCOLATE BATTER: Heat chocolate and butter in medium saucepan over low
heat until melted. Remove from heat. Stir in sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir into chocolate mixture
until well blended. Set aside.

CREAM CHEESE BATTER: Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth. Beat in
remaining ingredients. Alternately spoon chocolate and cream cheese
batters into 9 inch square pan. Gently swirl batter with knife. Bake 25
to 30 minutes.
