This is an international and intergenerational newsgroup. My personal
experience is that the name Terry is shared equal between males and
females.

Sounds like your experience is different.

There have been a number of embarrassing moments at my work, back when I
worked. We had at least three men named Michel (pronounced like the
French Michelle).
