There is endless debate about 9mm vs .38 Special +P vs .45, the answer
is whichever one you will actually carry. The first rule of gunfighting
is to have a gun.

9mm is perfectly adequate, especially if you can get some Winchester
"Lawman" +P+ ammo for it.

(the second rule is to have a *rifle* if you get to choose the time and
place)
