Actually, something similar tried to happen to me a couple of years ago.
Driving through a ritzy part of Rochester, right by George Eastman's old
mansion, there's this black lady standing on the corner by a traffic light
with a red gasoline can in her hand. It was pouring, so I asked if she
needed a lift somewhere. She said she needed to go to a Mobil station which
happened to be not out of my way at all. Got there, pulled over, and she
says something like "How 'bout I give you a little somethin' special for
$20? Pull over behind the gas station." I just laughed and said "Right! How
about YOU pay ME?"

Yeah. OK. Couldn't get her out of the car. She kept looking for work, if you
know what I mean. I finally pulled out into the busy street, with the car
diagonally across the yellow line blocking traffic and said "If I stay like
this, the cops should get here real quick...." Out she went.
