Maybe WHERE was significant once upon a time, but no longer. By the time
I became intimate with that part of Rochester in 1990, the elan of East
Avenue and the Eastman House area was no more than a spectral overlay
held on by wishful thinking. Urban decline had set in long before, and
though the region kept up a high-end front, a quick trip through the
interiors of properties for sale or rent in the area revealed the
carelessness and quick-buck attitude of the owners.

That you were accosted by a hooker in that neighborhood comes as no
surprise to me!
