Our butter comes in rectangles. Our fridges have butter conditioners
in them, a covered tray the exact size of a 500g pack of butter that
is meant to keep it semi-soft, ready for spreading. My one is not very
efficient, and like many Kiwis, we often use margarine nowadays but
always have butter in the house. Margarine for eating, butter for
cooking /baking -- cholesterol reasons.
