Yes, Dan. The thing people don't realize is beans don't have to be
'refritos'; that is, refried beans in fat. You can cook the beans (pinto or
black beans) in water or broth until tender with seasonings and still smash
the cooked beans if that is the effect you are going for and use them like a
bean paste in the burrito.

Dang, now I'm craving black bean soup!
