I was wondering what had happened to these cookies.

They were unique in that they did not contain excessive amounts of
sugar and fat. They tasted OK, but certainly not as good as, say,
chocolate! My parents and their circle of friends used to give these
cookies to their kids all the time.

Fig Newtons are reasonably good cookies, and somewhat healthy. But why
the hell do they contain artificial flavors? The flavor of the fruit
should be good enough. It irritates me so much that I don't buy them.
