Default Mothers Day dinner

I know, I know. But I need to share.

The day dawned windy and dreary and calling for rain, and I thought, "Oh,
no", since a cookout was planned and we were going to eat on the deck.
However, it turned sunny so the plans were on.

Our daughter was here (it was her Mother's Day, too) along with her DH and
two children.

Our #1 son had announced that I was to do absolutely nothing. They were
taking care of everything. That's very difficult for me to do ;-(.
His SO, who is from Lima, Peru, spent Saturday preparing a Peruvian
appetizer called a "causa". As far as I could determine, it was cold mashed
potato, layered with jalapenos and whatever else, then molded - it was
delicious; I must get the recipe. She brought along her nephew (also from
Lima) who is going to college here. He was a great help to everyone.

We had the prerequisite hamburgers and hotdogs, prepared by my son. He was
happily grilling, since he lives in an apartment and doesn't have a chance
to do that. My daughter supplied the salad, lots of sliced tomatoes, and a
coconut cake.

Lili surprised me with another Peruvian dish. She knew that I loved tongue
and so had prepared that dish just for me. Believe me, I tucked in - and
spurned the hamburgers and hotdogs. Happiness was.

It was a great day - French wine, plus Armagnac liqueur after dinner, with
coffee. Here it is Tuesday and I'm still stuffed.

Just a warm and wonderful day.
