First, I was instructed to do so. My health care team would rather
help their diabetic patients live healthy lives - with eyesight, and
feet and functioning kidneys. They're funny like that. Second, I
don't *have* BG readings of 170, so it's an academic exercise.

Strict BG control is worth it. I'd urge you to reconsider it for
yourself. My husband is an amputee for a different reason, and phantom
limb pain is *not* fun. Imagine feeling like your foot is horribly
mangled and cut up - after it's gone. It's not an easy type of pain to
manage.
