Leave a boogie-board half in and half out of the water by the stairs.
Eventually the frogs and critters will find their way there and can save
themselves. Give it a try.
In the beginning, with the pool system set to auto-on in the morning, I'd
come down to the pool to clean the skimmer and there'd be a handful or
more of frogs spinning around yelling "Help us Andy!!!" No auto-on after
that.
