My ex and I once got in the car after work and headed west. At some point in
the middle of the night we were headed through nebraska or colorado, I was
driving she was sleeping. These mice kept running across the freeway and I was
sitting there muttering "damned mice running across the road". then the mice
started flying across the road. When I muttered "damned mice flying across the
road" I realized it was time to wake the girl, change the cd and work a little
harder to stay focused.

to be clear, I did NOT fall asleep!

As luck would have it, we blew a tire outside Sterling, CO at 4 in the
morning. We dialed up AAA and got towed in (the wheel was rusted to the bolts
and I couldn't get it off, I can change my own tire. Hell, even the tow truck
driver couldn't get the wheel off) and we napped in the parking lot of the
repair shop. Made it to denver in time to meet a friend for breakfast then
headed down to New Mexico.
