The ONLY reason I start shopping for Christmas in October is precisely
because I don't want the hassel of the last minute "find a gift" garbage.
I'd be perfectly happy to bypass the holiday completely. I agree it is far
too commercialized. There are no young children in my family; I can't
really understand why self-supporting adults feel the need to get/give
gifts. But, it is expected of me to be somewhat of a good sport and
participate in this ritual. So I get the purchasing part over with as soon
as I possibly can.
