Don't know where the OP lives so I'm not sure if this tip is usable
but I buy a good-sized (2 lb?) bag of yeast at Smart and Final for
next to nothing compared to what the grocery stores charge. I store
it in the freezer, but since I make at least a loaf a week (sometimes
2), I'm not worried about it expiring -- but do check the date before
you buy and make note of it when you store it.
