I think that it would be a service to a number of people to provide this
info. I am very happy with my setup (a Mac running MT-NewsWatcher
connecting to a pretty nice newserver run by my full service ISP), so
I'm not going to do any research.

One hint, which may be totally useless. Will any of the free newservers
accept your Yahoo Email? I use a real Email address in my posts, but
obviously many people don't. As far as SMTP, if you can't provide one,
your local newsclient won't be able to send mail. Maybe this isn't a
big deal, though.

I wish you the best of luck, and enjoy reading your posts. The fact
that you use googlegroups doesn't bother *me* at all, I'm just glad that
I'm not forced to use it. I use Google to look up old posts (I think I
go back to 1991 on this group).
