Copper River Salmon, The Pricing Worm Turns
When I first looked at the price of Copper River Sockeye Salmon late
last week, it was $11.95/pound. About as expensive as a Starbucks Latte.
So, I passed on it. Smart move. Today I moved in at $5.95/lb at
Uwajimaya. Found a nice 3 1/2 lb'er. Had it filleted and skin removed,
and the bones save.
Just in time, the SBF's mom arrives on the SAS broomstick from Helsinki
tomorrow. Ease her usual culture shock with a salmon dinner, with, of
course, boiled potatoes and dill. Dessert will be a freshly made
rhubarb/strawberry pie.
So, I feel lots better now that the robbers have had their knives taken
from them. And the prices are much better now. Hey, farm raised stuff is
$4.00/lb. Now why would anyone want that when real salmon is available?
