Try an inner ear infection. I'm just getting over one now and when the
vestigal system gets compressed by that fluid all hell breaks loose. For
about 3 days I couldn't get out of bed, didn't even want to open my eyes
for fear of seeing the room spin. And sometimes so bad that the stomach
decided to try to heave out the contents, even when nothing was in
there. Fun times.

When it finally subsided I went to the doctor and now I'm on a ten day
course of amoxicillin with the proviso that if I don't notice
improvement in 4-6 days, to call an ENT and make an appointment.

It's day 3 and I can almost hear out of my left ear. I'd say hearing is
at about 60%.
