ahhh winter in the NYC metro area!
expect anything from the occasional balmy 45-50 degree day to wind chill
factors of minus 2 degrees (fahrenheit!), and everything in between!

bring sweaters.
your coats for the Calif. winters will do fine in fall and spring. You'll
need a warm coat for real winter. that polar fleece stuff is nice and warm,
and it's lightweight...which is nice when you're not used to wearing bulky
winter coats. Buy that when you get here.
gloves, for sure. and a hat or scarf, maybe both.

We get real winters, but it's not as bad as in Chicago or Buffalo.
Snow....usually, some, but a blizzard is rare. MOstly it's just cold.

I'm hoping you come to New Haven. Lots of neat restaurants between here and
there. AND plenty of shopping!!!
