Default Low-end wine and beginners (was Which red wine with Tri TipHors d' oeuvres?)

Blue Nun was my first dive into real wine (hehe) after Boone's Farm
Strawberry just seemed too sweet. I could not do Mateus, but begged
people to save me their bottles so I could let many colored candles drip
down it's side.

wow, Memory lane. But you are correct, those were low cost entry wines
back in the 60-70's. Thanks for the reminder on these.
