Cardamom replacement question

I've never used cardamom before, so I while I was at the grocery store
earlier today, I bought a very small amount of ground cardamom seeds
(0.08 lb) for curiousity more than anything else. I was greatly
reminded of ginger ale when I sniffed its aroma.
