They are fritter good deep fried. We used to get apple fritters
at a local pioneer day. They were wonderful. I made them a few
times myself and they were pretty good. Just peel and core the
apples, slice them into rings, dip the rings in oil until golden
brown. You can eat them straight, sprinkled with cinnamon sugar
or maple syrup.

Last year we were at similar venue and I saw the sign for the
apple fritters and stood in line for 45 minutes. They were
bloody awful. They looked more like chunks of apple in a heavy
dough. Maybe they forgot the baking powder, but they were like
balls of rubber.
