Default Been washing Calphalon and Wusthof in dishwasher

I just recieved a Calphalon pot for christmas and in it's directions is
say that it is machine washable but that it's appearance could change.
I'm not taking the risk...I know how much the pot cost and can't believe
my MIL bought it for me.
