Default Shelf life of beans

My rule of thumb is that when things stop smelling like they did when
they were just-cooked, or just opened, it's time to toss them.

It's weird, but I would swear that foods that are in the process of
going South go through distinct stages of spoilage, with one of the
terminal stages being *no* smell at all.

In other words, when you pop open the container expecting to get a whiff
of your Grandma's classic leftover green bean fricassee, but instead,
you smell *nothing*, it's Time To Toss.

You know what smells fresh, you know what smells bad. When things are
somewhere in between and just don't smell, be VERY careful, is my
advice.
