Sick of being sick...ideas please?
Sounds like mild food poisoning to me. I have had a couple varieties, so I
know. I am also diabetic and on metformin. Metformin can cause your
symptoms, especially if you eat a lot of carbs.
There is no such thing as stomach flu or a stomach virus. You can get
severe diarrhea from a simple cold, so you are confusing a symptom for a
disease.
Many things could cause this, even stress. Almost all are benign and the
treatment usually is to just let it run its course. If you had a pathogen
such as salmonella, you'd be wishing you were dead. I've had it and I can
tell you there is nothing so violent and painful as severe food poisoning.
If you are not passing blood in your stools, you do not have salmonella or
anything so severe. A mild case of e coli in an adult can cause your
symptoms. E.coli in an adult can be mild or extremely severe. If it were
severe you'd have a high fever and bloody stools. Or you could be having a
case of the metformin trots. I get them often.
Real food poisoning is so painful you'd not be able to compose a message to
this group. When I had salmonella I literally lived in my bathroom for 3
days and nights, praying for death. Then 3 more days in bed sipping broth
and Gatorade still worried death would not come and relieve me from my
suffering. My anus never really healed, 'roids and fissures have plagued me
since. OK, TMI but it is important in your case. So if you had a really
bad form of poisoning, you'd know it.
So see your doc and be assured you will live through it until then.
