My granddaughter, who has just turned eleven, has a hard time with a
manual run-of-the-mill potato peeler. She wants to turn the peeler so
that she can see the edge of one side bite into the potato. That doesn't
work. She's a bit better now, but while I watched and tried to teach her
the proper method the first time, I realized that I had to be taught the
same thing long ago.
