Salt and pepper. I have a plastic box where I keep my camping kitchen
stuff. A few years back, I went camping and I thought I would just buy
one of those twin packs of salt and pepper. The pepper would be stale,
but usable. I stopped at a major supermarket on the way. The price was
outrageous. Not my memory. I bought a pound of salt. It was cheaper
that way. It had no shaker, just a pour spout. I would pour some on my
left hand, use my right hand to get pinches, and then throw the
remainder on the ground. The preground pepper wasn't cheap, either.
But they had pepper grinders. They were disposable, and couldn't be
refilled. They were almost cheaper.
