Let's say it is mayonnaise. I like mayonnaise but I know I don't like
the generic brands of mayonaisse. I may ask a question "is the Trader
Joe's brand of mayonnaise similar to Best Foods or generic Safeway
brand?"

If someone said TJs mayo is like Best Foods, I'd buy it. But, if
someone said, "it's like Miracle Whip," well, I'd still try it. But,
if someone said that it was similar to generic stuff, I'd save my
money. I'd probably even take your opinion on TJs mayonnaise into
account.

Anyway, that's my point about researching opinions.
