While it is true that FINISHED marble will etch, the key is to get your
marble HONED. That's what we did, quite successfully, in two different
kitchen remodels. Of course, you have to like the honed look, which is much
softer than the finished look. It won't stain under normal use, but I
wouldn't drop a cast iron skillet on it either!
