Yes, in Ghana in Africa, and I seem to remember the West Indies too,
eggplants ("aubergines" in the uK) are known as jungle(? this is the
wrong word ?) eggs.
In the market in Brixton, the black area of London where I live, you
can buy white eggplants that look just like goose eggs. (Also colossal
living snails, living, the largest I've ever seen outside Africa)
