Because a lot of people are naive, uneducated, easily swayed and think
anything that has a "US" in official looking letters means it has some sort
of connection or approval by the US Federal Government. Just like the
"official notice" that comes in the brown envelope in the junk mail. Take a
survey in the grocery and I'd bet a surprising number of people would guess
it is USA grown produce because of that sticker.
