I'm a little behind on this thread as I just added this group to my news
reader's list. That having been said ....
I clicked on the links a bit back in this thread, and both of the
machines (Proffessional and Pro 6) were priced at $239 for a refurb.
A bit of history from when I used to work for a May dept. store in St.
Louis:
About 8 or more years ago, the top of the line consumer model was the
Epicurean at 475 watts.
It was replaced with the Professional at 525 watts.
Then that was replaced with the Pro 6 at 575 watts (the 6 representing 6
quarts, by the way).
All three models are bowl lift design, and can use any bowl made for
that design (5 quarts, 6 quarts, ice cream maker). the only caveat is
that you must use a beater, whisk or dough hook for the given bowl size,
and the geometries of the mixing elements are contoured to match the
geometries of the bowl. That said, and 6 quart beater will work with
any 6 quart bowl, even if the bowl is 30 years old and the beater is
brand new.
