Yes, I have a model 50. In the past day it turned 8 lbs of jalapenos
into chipotles and Q'ed a whole bunch of brisket.
If i were you, instead of putting the money into the stainless steel
covering you should get a larger unit, as in model 50. It's more
versatile than the smokette and it has much larger capacity.
The stainless steel is nice, but it's not required. I live near the ocean
and after 2 years the black matte surface is holding up just fine.
