Not really. The superior non-stick coatings like Excalibur are pretty
much bullet proof and don't flake off like the cheaper brands, but
they are still prone to scratching by metal utensils. The fact is,
those scratches may not flake, but they do become an impediment to the
teflon slick cooking surface you are paying good money for, so why mar
that surface unnecessarily. Bottom line, use wood or plastic utensils
regardless of what they claim. They just say that because they want
you to wear out that non-stick surface sooner so you'll have to buy a
new one.
