Default The decision

I did the bean pickles first. :-)

After dinner (maybe 7:05ish) I drove to Sur la Table. Pretty funny.
They didn't have what I was looking for (a butter curler -- mine has
disappeared) and once that was ascertained, they ignored me. I wandered
the store and happened to overhear conversation about closing out the
register, how to do it, blahblahblah. All of a sudden a woman
approached me and said they didn't know I was in the store and they are
now closed (20 minutes ago). I said I'd come a bit of a distance so I
hoped they wouldn't mind if I took my time leaving the store. We figure
they went home and told their husbands about the nutcase in the store at
closing time. Skroom. They close at 8:00 p.m. I probably got there at
about 7:45 or so.

I went *next door* to Cooks of Crocus Hill and saw that they were still
open (until 9:00). They had some concerns about Surly Table opening in
the area, and they're counting on good service to carry them through.
They didn't have a butter curler either but found one in the St. Paul
store and offered to have it sent over for me. I need to see it first.
I want one with a nice rosewood handle like mine has. Actually, what I
want is MINE! Dangitall.

Surly Table has Demeyere cookware. Holy crap, that stuff is expensive!
My Bigass jam kettle is Demeyere and I bought it at SlT in Seattle in
1999. It was $165 then. Alex only knows what it costs now. I think I
don't want to know. I hope Cooks can prevail.
