Tried it, wasn't quite so thrilled with it. I use the mic for several
things besides melting butter. Carrots cook nicely on med to med-low
setting, a hollandaise can be carefully reheated on the lowest setting
(stop and whisk frequently), and I par cook french fried potatoes to
slightly tender in the mic before placing them in the oil. The
microwave, like any form of cooking, has its specific advantages. It
ain't just for microwave popcorn and melting butter.
