A couple of years ago I saw a food-travel show in which the host, a
perky young lady, went to Thailand. "Thai is my favorite food!" she
burbled. At some point in the show, she bought a 100-yr old egg from
the market, peeled it, screwed up her courage and took a bite. The
look on her face was priceless. Then she turned her back to the
camera and started retching although every so often you'd catch a
glimpse of her gagging face. I was surprized that wasn't edited out!

Later int the show, she tried bugs in the market. The first bugs she
tried, she said they were OK. The second type of bugs she tried
caused a mild retching reaction and she tried to smile through her
tears. The vendor stood there laughing.

It was a great show and probably a lot more honest than most travel
shows. My hat's off to her for trying the food and to the producers
for leaving the footage in. I looked for more of her travels but
didn't find any. IIRC, she had a British accent.
