This survey leaves out 3 of the most important answers, at least for me.
Most large cities have dining guides, such as Zagats, that are
invaluable sources of information. Almost any city or sizable town will
have restaurant reviews in the local paper. Finally, many areas have
newsgroups that are devoted to local restaurants.
