Dihydrogen monoxide is used to flush toilets,
but nobody seems to mind using it in soup.

Hexane (with the oddball exception of n-hexane)
is about as inert as candle wax in the human body.
The essential difference is molecular weight --
the hexane molecules are shorter, but made of the
same stuff.
