When my bratty cousin Tommy and I were about 8 or 10, he dared me to eat a
whole pound of spaghetti at one sitting. Unfortunately, we were visiting a
(childless) aunt who went along with just about anything we wanted, so she
cooked it up, sauced it and served it to me. Tommy sat there wide-eyed as I
finished it all. Not surprisingly, I went off and tossed the whole pound. I
often wish I had had the presence of mind to toss it in Tommy's lap.
